Certified Doula, Childbirth Educator, & Lactation Counselor
Emily was born in the heart of New York City, raised in the Bronx and moved to Florida to pursue a career in Hospice. Emily married her husband Ken in 2005. Together they have six children and 18 grandchildren. Emily has had a wealth of personal experience with childbirth. She gained a deep appreciation of the beauty of child bearing when her own children started giving birth. When Emily’s eldest daughter planned her third pregnancy she opted for a vaginal birth, after two previous cesareans. Emily had the privilege of witnessing the care that her daughter received from a compassionate midwife, who empowered her to feel strong, confident and capable. That pregnancy and birth not only rekindled a spark in Emily to pursue her dream of becoming a Doula, but the name of her company is derived form her granddaughter’s name (Véda Serren) which means Sacred Knowledge.
Emily was educated through a Christian-based organization called Charis Childbirth. A comprehensive, credible course for certifying Childbirth Educators, Lactation Counselors, and Doulas. Learning about serving childbearing families from a Christian perspective has built her faith.
Emily’s favorite things to do outside of working with families are watching her grandchildren grow into fascinating people, riding motorcycles, and digging her toes into the sand of a warm, beautiful beach.
At Sacred Knowledge Doula Care,
